PianoJam & Henry Piovesan

PianoJam Recording and Instruction Studio
is Henry Piovesan’s lifetime musical venture.

Henry started playing piano in Ontario Canada at four years of age and grew up learning songs from the radio "note for note" after recording them to an ancient cassette recorder. He skipped classes in high school to hang out in the band room, where he learned all the instruments he could get his hands on.

He went on to earn his Bachelor of Music degree at Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music, studying under great teachers such as Chuck Mangione, Mike and Pat Metheny, Gary Burton and Quincy Jones.

After college and some time as a public school music teacher K to 12, he decided to pursue his first passion of performing live. He traveled to Florida, and had the good fortune to perform with various artists and bands such as Pat Simmons (Doobie Brothers), Banner Thomas (Molly Hatchet), George McKorkle (Marshall Tucker Band), Dan Toller (Allman Brothers) then formed the band “Formation” and toured extensively throughout eastern USA from NewYork to Florida.

Henry moved back to Ontario, where he acquired his prized 1955 Hammond B3 organ, formed the band “Whitewater” and shared the stage at many festivals with artists such as Burton Cummings and the Tragically Hip. In the 90’s he was employed for 4 years as a theater music director in Saskatchewan, then moved to BC where he performed in several bands and wrote and directed several comedy music theater productions in Vernon BC.

Henry continues to play live music, recently performing on stage with The Platters, Dave Sinclair (Sarah Mclachlan), Vancouver's jazz vocal diva Christine Duncan, and bluesman extraordinaire Sherman (Tank) Doucette among others.

All through his career, Henry worked as a studio session musician and had opportunities to work with, and learn from, various world class producers such as Susan Rogers (Prince), Garth Richardson (Rage Against the Machine), Phil Ramone (Ray Charles, Bob Dylan, Bono, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Sting, Stones, Streisand, etc…).
